Steam version doesn't work
« on: June 02, 2013, 07:13:26 pm »
I searched around the forum to look to see if people had this working on Steam and people seemed to have it working fine. I have it everything set up correctly.

It currently doesn't support Steam, however it has in the past. Because Steam and Rockstar Games changed the way the Steam executable works, it's no longer compatible. You can get around this by legally using a No-CD executable that goes with the retail disc version of the game, but make sure to back up the original or you can't play GTA III with Steam when not running LU.

Um, hey. I've got a similar problem with the Amazon version, but I didn't quite understand what you wrote. Are you saying to by a physical version of that game?

If you got a digital copy anywhere online, it uses a custom executable that is not directly supported. The same method for resolving the Steam version should work with the other digital types too.

LU does not work with any Steam executable for GTA III. It used to a very long time ago, but lost support when updates were released. If you are thinking of Steam itself, yes, you can add it to your custom games list, but that does nothing more than act as a shortcut to LU's client browser. What is being referred to here is using LU with GTA III that was purchased from Steam.
