Liberty Unleashed 0.1.0.18 Update Released
Click Here to Download and Visit the Official Site
An independently maintained quality-of-life update to the Liberty Unleashed client by Jack Powell (GTA Connected). This release features a full server browser rebuild, critical security fixes, and HTTPS/IPv6 support.
Changelog - 0.1.0.18
Security
Fixed a buffer overflow when entering a long server address in the Add Server dialog.
Fixed a heap overflow that a malicious or compromised server could trigger via a crafted rules response.
Fixed a use-after-free (and a related double-free) in the update checker's HTTP fetch retry path.
Fixed a potential crash from an unchecked network fetch result in the update dialog.
Fixed a startup failure on Windows XP caused by an unconditional dependency check.
Fixed a small memory leak in the launched game process on every connect (a failed cleanup call was silently ignored).
Fixed a process/thread handle leak on every successful game launch.
Fixed saved data files being read in text mode, which could silently corrupt embedded binary fields depending on their exact byte content.
Added
The interface now scales correctly on high-DPI displays.
Non-ASCII characters in file paths and player names are now handled correctly (previously could be corrupted depending on system codepage).
Server list/update/MOTD requests now support real TLS (HTTPS) and IPv6, neither of which the plain HTTP/1.0-over-IPv4 client supported.
The website link in the About dialog is now clickable.
The server list now automatically re-queries whichever servers are currently visible on screen once a second, so ping/player count/etc. stay live without needing to reselect a row or hit Refresh.
Import Settings.../Export Settings... now actually work, letting you back up or restore your preferences to/from a file.
The History and LAN tabs' columns are now sortable, including History's "Last Played" column - the original client never supported sorting either of these two tabs.
A newly-arrived server (from a live list refresh, LAN broadcast reply, etc.) now inserts into its correct position if you already have a tab sorted, instead of appearing out of order until the next manual re-sort.
This new once-a-second auto-refresh can be turned off from Settings, if you'd rather the list stay static.
The About dialog now credits ongoing maintenance work, with a link to
gtaconnected.com
.
Refresh Master List and Check for Updates now gray out while a request is already in progress, so a second click can't queue a redundant one on top of it.
The server list now shows GTA:IV as its own game type, for servers running GTA Connected.
Trying to connect to a server running an unsupported mod or game now shows a clear message naming what it's actually running, instead of a confusing generic failure.
Fixed
Fixed the Internet and Official tabs flashing empty and refilling piecemeal every time you switched to them or hit Refresh - the list now updates in place, only removing servers that are no longer listed and adding ones that are new.
Fixed text in the About dialog being clipped at higher display scaling.
Fixed the server details panel occasionally showing another server's info instead of the selected server's.
Reduced flickering in the server list, rules list, and Favourites/History tabs when they update or load.
The update prompt and update progress window no longer let you click back into the main window while they're open.
Fixed the main window background showing as a bright blue on some Windows color schemes.
Fixed Official servers occasionally sticking around permanently after they stopped being Official, and sometimes incorrectly appearing or disappearing from the Internet tab as a side effect.
Fixed several disabled menu items (Delete Server, Refresh Server, Refresh Master List) not appearing grayed out even though they were disabled - most noticeable on Windows XP, where it was especially hard to tell they weren't clickable.
Fixed the whole window freezing - sometimes for the better part of a minute - whenever the server list refresh, update check, update download, or a server's MOTD had to wait on a slow or unresponsive server. These all happen in the background now instead of blocking the window.
Fixed several error/warning dialogs (invalid directory prompts, failed queries, nickname reminders, etc.) not being modal to the main window - you could click back into the main window while one was open instead of it blocking input like every other dialog does.
Fixed the players list and rules list clearing themselves if you clicked a tab while a server with players was already selected.
Changed
Switched the UI font to the system default for better readability at larger interface scales.
