Title: IMPORTANT, IF YOU PLAY ANY GTAMP MULTIPLAYER MOD PLEASE READ
Post by: Sephiroth on January 11, 2012, 09:48:30 pm
So a player named Ray has somehow gained access to about 20,000 passwords from various VC:MP forums and servers. We have no idea how he did it, but he has. So we strongly advise you to change your passwords there and if you use them anywhere else, change them there as well.

To server owners and forum administrators: Ray has the subnet 117.197, we suggest you ban it.

If you have made one, you can recover it.

what if someone has hacked his account and then done what he did? (i'm not defending him or similar :D because i dont even know him or anything about this event, just saying)
He was butthurt for getting banned on almost every server of VCMP. Thats why ;)

The real question is why don't we let Vrocker and maxorator teach him a lesson :L

We are admins, not hackers.

(Well, I'm retired from the second, but my point still stands nonetheless.)

Your statement is some-what a fallacy, if Maxorator and Vrocker were not hackers, they would not have been able to do the mods they do. It does afterall require some level of hacking and reverse engineering..

And secondly, you don't have much of a sense of humour do you  ;) My statement was clearly meant to be a joke.

Reverse-engineering is not hacking. That is disassembling and programming.

Hacking and cracking are two very different concepts.

Reverse-engineering is not hacking. That is disassembling and programming.

Again, re-read what I put. I'm aware that Reverse-engineering is not the same as hacking; Hence I put Hacking AND reverse-engineering.
I'm aware of at-least one occasion in which VRocker has exploited bugs in clients for the purpose of crashing it, and IIRC, Max too did similar. This according to most definitions would be considered hacking.

Now, why don't we drop this very pointless "argument" which sprouted from your simple misunderstanding of a joke.

Kind Regards,
Orpheus

That is ethical hacking to reverse engineer something to fix it and prevent it from being exploited in the future. By definition, that is not the same as hacking. That is patching.

Don't troll please. My original comment was meant to be friendly. Your responses are what made it serious.
