Liberty Unleashed / Liberty Unleashed Chat / Re: The end of LU?

LU is not dead. People making comments like that is what scares new players away. @Motley, @James_Conway, what makes you guys so sure that it's not dead, I'd like if you could explain a little more. I hope it doesn't sound salty, just asking
Pfft, who you calling salty? James is actually working on Argo's LU server with me. If this mod were dead, I don't think he'd be bothering to try.

LU is not going to die. It just needs people to get involved again! There are many server developers, but no one is doing much but experimenting and not releasing their completed projects. Hell, if I could find enough developers in my own gaming community, there would be another server already on the list.

Liberty Unleashed / Liberty Unleashed Chat / Re: Why not make LU open source?

Also the LU source will be always private, because there are good and bad people in the world, and the bad people can use the code to fuck us and also take credits.
I have never understood this argument for keeping software closed source. Yes, there are bad people who will look at the code to find exploits. But what does it matter? #1: There are already people who find exploits in closed source software. There are tons of exploits discovered nearly daily for Windows and MS Office, both of which are closed source software. Keeping it closed won't prevent anyone who is determined from finding a vulnerability. People have already found nasty exploits for LU in spite of it being closed source. #2: The good guys will submit a patch for said exploit and distribute it to server owners and players.
As for taking credit I have honestly only seen this twice in the open source community and both times it was found out pretty quickly and the projects were shut down.
As for the "half-assed mods", its easy enough to avoid them.
Personally I would love to see an open source LU, it seems like a really cool concept to me. But I know it'll more likely than not never happen.
If the community was more involved and motivated the Developers into constant development, this *could* eventually happen. (Of course, it would be completely at their discretion). Right now, though, no one is doing much but ****ting on the mod. This only pushes the chances of it going open source even farther away.

If I have to warn one more person for flaming users, including those who are removed from this forum already, I'm going to start banning people. It is not an excuse to talk ****. This is a final warning.

They will happen. Just give them time, support, and try to help out where you can. Right now they are feeling a bit unmotivated with the little free time they have since everyone keeps ****ting on their work.

News and Content / Updates/Changes / Re: Update 0.1.0.17 (14/06/2016)

The windows server of 0.1.0.17 crashes when having any
<vehicle model="96" x="899.68" y="-982.68" z="5.63" angle="91.0" col1="1" col2="2" /> in content.xml.
Any suggestion? Eventually how to downgrade to 0.1.0.16?
Turn off the auto-updater and try to find a 0.1.0.16 executable to replace the old one with.
You might remember this error, this is probably why people are not on LU anymore. I bet you're ignoring it just to troll us all. Fix it or probably everyone's gonna leave forever... I mean, I can just move to only playing on SA:MP while completely ignoring GTA III.
Bad attitudes like that are why the Developers don't want to work on things. They do this for free so everyone can have fun. If you don't appreciate it, why should they bother?
people are allowed to have opinions, why would someone want appreciate program that doesnt work and errors all the time? its developers job to fix that.
well i m not having any problems myself, but alot other people seem to. these kind of errors should not be ignored
It is not their job to do anything. They are doing it out of the kindness of their hearts. They don't have to do anything at all for us. They may be tasked with such things, but they are not required to do them. If people continue to abuse and shit-talk this mod, do you really think they would even want to work on it? Think about it. If you were in their shoes, would you want to? So far the community has been nothing but vile, unsupportive, and extremely negative toward itself and the users within it. Can you really blame the Developers for not wanting to make this a priority in their lives if no one is enjoying it? If people really want to see a change and help get the Developers interested again, then a community-wide change needs to happen.
