Long time no 'proper' news, so heres some!
Just lately we've been coding a lot and we've been testing almost every day for the last week or so with great success!
Some of you may have noticed various new videos on my xfire profile and the LUTesters user on youtube, but for those of you that havn't seen them, here they are:

This one shows off a bunch of us testing the new and improved vehicle sync. Please ignore the occasional stuttering, thats down to xfire :(

This one was just testing how the dodo looked when flying as a passenger, also shows the animations on entering :)

This one i was testing how smooth sync was when passengering with an insane ping. You may notice in the video that my ping was 1100!

Further videos will be uploaded to the LUTesters (http://www.youtube.com/LUTesters) group so keep an eye on it!
As you can see from the videos, the vehicle sync is better than its ever been, and apart from a few small issues that we're currently fixing, its almost finished.
We're now working at full speed to get all the issues found during private testing fixed, so we can release it to the public verify theres no major issues. If all goes well we should have a release shortly after!

Oh there was certainly plenty of waiting, but it was bloudy worth it. Will try and poke the testing team into getting some more videos when I can. :P

No need to shout! As for objects, not even VRocker knows at the minute, he has messed around with code for them though I recall.

Objects might actually be "medium priority" :o

You must remember that adding everything isn't required for a first release. Most multiplayer mods start 'basic' and add more (epic) features along the way. So adding objects isn't really important yet, imo.

We are aiming for a basic release, but we add random features when we get bored of fixing the big stuff :P
Objects are currently disabled due to small bugs in them. They may be in release, but may not.
I last tested with objects 3 or 4 days ago, and they worked fine until you hit them at a certain speed in a car.... then they flew off into space, so that needs fixing :P

Yeah, so basic...
- Full featured scripting implementation
- Fully streamed objects, vehicles, pickups (Making the limit effectively infinite)
- Superior sync
- Vehicle damage, driver/passenger enter/exit sync
- Runtime skin changing
- Runtime vehicle/pickup adding/removing
- FULL GUI
- And a whole lot more...
So basic rite?

The vehicle damage isn't fully sync'd yet, its just the visual stuff. It may be put in if we get bored and add features again :P
The sync is basic in my eyes, theres ways it can be improved :)
The GUI isn't finished but enough is done to provide enough functionality. Its missing things like listboxs, comboboxs and other small things.
Most of the things you listed were in the original design for the mod so they were classed as core stuff, like decent scripting. Being able to change stuff at runtime and customise pretty much everything is another 'core' thing, and although not everything is fully customisable yet (like the map), theres enough to keep anybody occupied :)

I realised my post sounded like I was criticising you...
It was more of a "LU has these features which are being called 'basic', we can imagine how good a 'non-basic' version would be like!" thing
Oh well.
Plus, vcmp had/has;
- No GUI
- Bare minimum vehicle sync
- Partially implemented scripting

Only pickups add/rem on runtime
- Low vehicles/pickups limit and no objects!

If we are talking about objects now (i said that last time on irc)...
I have started adding objects via SCM and I know, that some of objects are simple bugged...

For example they fly somewhere or "drown" in the street :p. Some of them crash my game when i hit it with a car, sometime crash when a pedestrian walked into it, and some again crashed... Just after creating!
Aw and forgot that you probably cant use all model ids, because for example streets are always not stable for me, so they are useless :).

I was testing objects in MooMapper and it seems that GTA3 can't handle custom objects really well. I added some objects and other buildings simply disappeared etc. maybe it wouldn't be a that good idea..xD

This used to happen in LU too but i fixed it by setting a certain flag on the object but its still buggy. When i get time i'll implement them properly which involves no crappy SCM stuff. LU will create objects just like it would if you added them to an IPL when its finished. This may or may not be in the first release.

Oh and 1 question: adding cars for example, will be via Squirrel script or via a config file?

VU will come after LU has been released, as for adding cars, it's via a config file, however there is the option to create/destroy vehicles on demand via scripting.

Don't worry, whenever the developers have free time they are working on it, and we have a lot of free time. It will be here, just stay patient!

We've had a few small issues occurring but the dev team is working to rectify them as quick as they can. :)

Liberty Unleashed is still being worked on, we did some tests last night. Here are 5 of us waiting for the staunton bridge to come down, the cars have been set to custom RGB colours.

Another test that we conducted last night with a new speedo, RGB colours on cars, and the ability to change the surface traction via script, also showing how nice the vehicle sync is. Enjoy!

Nice :o Is it possible to view others changing their car colours? Since I've only seen the one recording doing it :(

Yeh you can see when other people change their car colours as well. I think at some point in that vid, Juppi, changes his car colours and you can quite clearly see it. :P
