Title: [Random] LU on a tablet
Post by: VRocker on April 11, 2013, 04:45:18 pm
So yesterday i got a nice shiney tablet (Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2) which runs Windows 8 and has an Intel Atom CPU. So what better way to test how it is than by trying Liberty Unleashed on it!

If you were in lolmortuary you may have seen me join and do nothing... thats because playing GTA3 when you have no keyboard (or just the onscreen one) is a pain in the arse! :P Might invest in the keyboard addon for it...

The tablet played LU at a stable 30FPS and didn't even lag when somebody dropped a lot of cars on my head (Thanks whoever that was...) so i'm happy with both LU and my new toy :)

Here is a really bad picture of me in lolmortuary on my tablet. Yes its at a low res in window mode but thats because i needed to use the onscreen keyboard :P

What if get touch controls from android/ios version and set to your tablet?

Is that the mobile version of Win8, or the full one? Last I heard, III didn't run on the mobile one! D:

Looks cool, but I think you have no chances in fighting. Unless the "screen touchers" will have auto-aim ;).

Agree, Android would be more interesting :). But as said, no chances in fighting.

That's like the people who say console versus computer game wars would be unfair. Little do people realize that each has it's own unique advantages. ;)

That's full Win8 - LU doesn't have a build for mobile devices (Android, iOS or anything else). Since this is the native PC version of GTA3 a touch control system would have to be created using a separate mod.

That's why I was confused. I didn't know they had a full version of Win8 working on any tablets yet. I thought they all used the mobile one still.

I think it would feel so weird having windows 8 on tablet, or even with a touchscreen.
Looks funky though :D

I'm sorry, but thumbs are kinda useless when being on the computer (yes yes, you use them for some things, but they're used less than the other fingers)

Who says he doesn't have the same number of fingers to match? ;)

Those thumbs are useful for other things, (while coding), so he doesn't need breaks!

Haha, so he has 35 fingers? I suppose his feet are normal (or maybe not...)

He had two, but we had Tommy Vercetti chop them off long ago with a Katana so he couldn't leave his computer. ;)

I don't mean to bump an old topic, but I just wanted to say that LU plays beautifully on my tablet. I currently own a Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro. I wish there was an on screen "gaming keyboard" instead of the default Windows 8 keyboard. The only reason I can still play is because the Surface has a snap-in keyboard (you might have seen the commercials that show it off).

Now we just need LU for the Android/iOS version of GTA III. It would be awesome to play it anywhere, like on the bus or while waiting at the doctor's office or something.
