I don't know about freezing-on-join problem, but crc-bug occurs every time you are afk.

There can also be an issue that you are kicked for not logging in quickly (5 secs).

Hi. This crc-check bug is well known, fix was sent to the hoster, but the hoster doesn't care about server, that's why this bug is still present.
As for ping, if yours is 500 or higher, you'll be kicked.
